Certificates of Appreciation Awarded for Outstanding Contribution in Helping Accident Victims and Preventing Road Mishaps

Jagdalpur. A dignified ceremony was held today at the Police Coordination Center, Lalbagh, under the joint aegis of the Road Safety Lead Agency and Bastar Police. A total of 113 Road Safety Mitans and Good Samaritans were honored for their remarkable contribution in assisting the injured during road accidents and helping in accident prevention.

The program was organized under the instructions of Superintendent of Police Shalabh Kumar Sinha and the guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police Maheshwar Nag. A total of 101 Road Safety Mitans and 12 Good Samaritans, who played an active role in promoting road safety, were felicitated with bags, safety kits, and certificates of appreciation.

Additional Superintendent of Police Yogesh Dewangan, Traffic Sub-Inspector Santosh Jain, Traffic In-charge Madhusudan Nag, DSP Radio B.K. Das, Regional Transport Officer D.C. Banjare, DSP Bharsingh Mandavi, Dr. Virendra Singh Thakur, anesthesia specialist Dr. Sushri Girisha, social workers Yogesh Mishra and Mahendra Singh Thakur attended the event.

On this occasion, Dr. Sushri Girisha shared important information about providing first aid to accident victims. She demonstrated CPR procedures, methods to control excessive bleeding, protection of injured limbs, and techniques to keep the victim safe until an ambulance arrives. The demonstration proved extremely useful for the Road Safety Mitans and the gathered audience.

During the felicitation ceremony, Superintendent of Police Shalabh Kumar Sinha said that Road Safety Mitans and Good Samaritans are continuously playing a vital role in spreading awareness and providing timely help to accident victims. He urged that more Road Safety Mitans should be appointed in every village and town so that immediate assistance can reach in case of an accident. He added, “Saving lives is the greatest act of humanity.”

SP also appealed to the public to always follow traffic rules, wear helmets while riding two-wheelers, avoid overspeeding and overtaking, and refrain from driving under the influence of alcohol. He informed about the Good Samaritan Law, which provides legal protection to those who help accident victims. He encouraged people to assist the injured without fear.

Road Safety Mitans, Good Samaritans, staff of the traffic and transport departments, and social workers present at the event appreciated the program and pledged to further strengthen road safety awareness.
