Dharampura Road in Jagdalpur Gets a New Look – Traffic Jam Relief, Smoother Travel

Jagdalpur. The road from Palli Naka to Navodaya Vidyalaya in Jagdalpur’s Dharampura area has now taken a completely new and wider shape, bringing major relief to thousands of commuters, villagers, and students traveling daily from Jagdalpur, Kukanar region, and nearby educational institutions. The Public Works Department has nearly completed the widening and strengthening work of this 1.5 km stretch, constructed at a cost of around ₹2 crore.

Earlier, the road—only 3.75 meters wide—was a constant cause of traffic jams, accidents, and dust-mud problems. Considering the growing traffic pressure in the Dharampura area and long-standing demands of local residents, BJP State President and Chitrakot MLA Kiran Singh Deo took special initiative for its widening. As a result, the road has now been expanded to 5.5 meters.

MLA Deo stated that this route holds major academic importance, as thousands of students regularly commute through it to institutions like PG College, Government Girls Polytechnic, Engineering College, Navodaya Vidyalaya, and several others. Due to the earlier narrow road, students faced daily traffic jams and safety concerns, but the newly widened and strengthened road will now make their travel safe, smooth, and hassle-free.

Local residents expressed satisfaction over the construction, stating that travel time will reduce, monsoon mud and pothole issues will disappear, and the dust problem, which persisted during dry weather, will now be eliminated due to proper widening.

According to PWD officials, once the final layer and roadside cleaning work is completed, the road will be fully opened for public movement.

The upgraded road is set to give a new direction to development and connectivity in the Dharampura region.
