Action Initiated Over False Reporting of Incomplete Houses as Complete under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana
Raipur. After irregularities surfaced in the false reporting on status of house construction under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Gariaband, on the directions of district Collector the District Panchayat Chief Executive Office (CEO) immediatly terminated Awas Mitras from four Gram Panchayats and an Employment Assistant from one Gram Panchayat.
As instructed by the Chief Executive Officer, District Panchayat Gariaband, a district-level team inspected the actual status of houses in Gram Panchayats Khajurpader, Usarijor, Saraipani, Nawapara, Bajadi, Muchbahal and Dhobanmal. The inquiry revealed that several beneficiaries’ houses were still incomplete, yet Awas Mitras and Employment Assistants had geotagged other individuals’ houses and marked them as completed. Following these findings, the Awas Mitras of Saraipani, Nawapara, Bajadi and Muchbahal, and the Employment Assistant of Dhobanmal, were dismissed.
Show-cause notices have also been issued to the Chief Executive Officer, Janpad Panchayat Mainpur; the Block Coordinator, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), the Technical Assistant (MNREGA), and the Sarpanch/Secretary of Gram Panchayats Saraipani, Nawapara, Bajadi, Muchbahal and Dhobanmal for negligence in inspection and monitoring. The Technical Assistant of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) has additionally been pulled up for verifying geotagging without proper field inspection.
Garibandh Collector Mr Bhagwan Singh Uikey has asserted that negligence under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana will not be tolerated and that monitoring mechanisms will be further tightened to ensure beneficiaries receive their rightful benefits.
