More Than 11.50 Lakh PM Awas Houses Completed in Last Two-and-a-Half Years – Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai
Raipur. Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai attended the state-level Griha Pravesh ceremony held in Sakti, where 2 lakh newly constructed houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) were handed over to beneficiaries. Keys to the new houses were symbolically presented to the beneficiaries in their presence. Union Minister Shri Chouhan also announced the major allocation of 3.65 lakh additional houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) to Chhattisgarh.

Union Minister Shivraj SinghChouhan handed over the approval letter for the additional houses to Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. He also announced the establishment of a Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) in Sakti district and extended the deadline for the PMAY-G survey in Bastar division to October 31, 2026.

Over 1,600 Houses Being Completed Every Day – Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan
Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is fulfilling the dream of permanent houses for poor and needy rural families.

Appreciating the implementation of Central and State Government schemes in Chhattisgarh under Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai’s leadership, he said more than 1,600 PMAY-G houses are being completed every day in the state. Shri Chouhan said coordinated efforts of the Central and State Governments are expanding access to permanent housing, roads, drinking water, sanitation, healthcare and livelihood opportunities in rural areas.

He said PMAY-G, together with schemes such as Ujjwala Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, free ration, Swachh Bharat Mission and Jal Jeevan Mission, is bringing comprehensive improvements to the lives of rural families.
More Than 11.50 Lakh Houses Completed in Two-and-a-Half Years
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai congratulated the 2 lakh beneficiary families entering their new homes. He said providing pucca houses to needy and low-income families remains one of the State Government’s top priorities.
He said the government demonstrated this commitment by approving 18 lakh Pradhan Mantri Awas houses in its first Cabinet meeting. More than 11.50 lakh houses have been completed in Chhattisgarh during the last two-and-a-half years.
Targets for construction of houses under Awas Survey-2011 and Awas Plus Survey have already been approved. At the same time, the State Government has requested approval for houses for the remaining eligible families identified through the Awas Plus-Plus Survey.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said the government is committed to ensuring that no eligible low-income family in Chhattisgarh remains deprived of a permanent house.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra to Strengthen Agriculture in Sakti
Union Minister Shri Chouhan said Chhattisgarh has immense agricultural potential and is developing a new identity not only as the Rice Bowl but also as a growing producer of vegetables.
He said the proposed Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Sakti will give farmers local access to modern agricultural technologies, advanced farming practices, crop diversification, and scientific guidance, supporting efforts to increase farmers’ incomes and strengthen the rural economy.
13.85 Lakh Women Become Lakhpati Didis
Highlighting women’s growing contribution to the rural economy, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said 13.85 lakh women in Chhattisgarh have become Lakhpati Didis through expanding livelihood opportunities, including those supported under the National Rural Livelihood Mission and BIHAN.
He said nearly 70 lakh women are benefiting from the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, under which more than Rs 20,000 crore has been transferred to beneficiaries’ accounts so far.
The Chief Minister said these initiatives are strengthening women’s dignity, confidence and economic self-reliance. Chief Minister Shri Sai urged citizens to make greater use of the Chief Minister Helpline 1076 and Sewa Setu Portal. He informed that outstanding electricity bills worth more than Rs 750 crore have so far been waived under the Bijli Bill Samadhan Yojana.
New Rural Development Initiatives Launched
Several rural development initiatives and innovations were launched during the programme. These included AI-based geo-tag verification under Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana-Gramin, the ‘Dhaar Apaar’ and ‘Sugghar Badi’ campaigns under Viksit Bharat-G RAM G Yojana, and the launch of 270 new Integrated Farming Clusters under the National Rural Livelihood Mission.
A Challenge Fund event under the incubation initiative ‘Ath Udyamita Ki Or’ was also launched.
Outstanding Lakhpati Didis and Dealer Didis, along with representatives of Panchayats that have performed noteworthy work in Panchayat and Rural Development, were honoured.
Transparency and Accountability in Rural Development
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma said the government is determined to ensure that no eligible family remains without a permanent house. Providing houses is also being extended to families affected by Naxal violence and to those who have surrendered and returned to the mainstream.
He said rural development efforts also encompass education, sanitation and other basic amenities. The State Government has set a target to ensure girls’ toilet facilities in every school by January 26, 2027, while Muktidham sheds and other rural infrastructure will be developed under the VB-G RAM G Yojana.
To strengthen transparency, Panchayats are placing barcodes on development works, allowing citizens to scan them and access project-related information, thereby facilitating public monitoring.
Benefits of Welfare Schemes Reaching the Last Person
Union Minister of State Tokhan Sahu said the government’s welfare initiatives are guided by Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s philosophy of Antyodaya, with schemes focused on improving the lives of low-income families, farmers, women and the last person in society.
At the conclusion of the programme, district in-charge Minister Guru Khushwant Saheb expressed gratitude. Member of Parliament Kamlesh Jangde, Zila Panchayat President Draupadi Kirtan Chandra, public representatives, Panchayat office-bearers, Lakhpati Didis, PMAY beneficiaries and a large number of villagers were present.
